Early Times Report Kishtwar, Nov 3: A policeman, who is son of a local BJP leader, has been arrested for assaulting a police officer in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. Police constable Yasir Firdous Giri has been arrested for assaulting Sub Inspector Sikandar while he was performing his duty in Kishtwar, a police officer said. Giri, the son of a leader of BJP's Muslim Morcha, was travelling on his motorcycle when he was stopped by policemen for traffic violation near Dak Bungalow in Kishtwar. He was asked by traffic cops to show valid documents of the vehicle, a police officer said. Giri, instead of cooperating, entered into a verbual dual with policemen and later assaulted the SI, the officer said. Deputy SP (Operations) Kishtwar Irshad Ahangar, who was passing through the area, stopped his vehicle after witnessing assembly of people and hearing noise. He ordered Giri's immediate arrest beside seizure of his vehicle. An FIR was lodged against him at police station Kishtwar and the matter was brought to the notice of Commandment IRP 6th battalion about the misconduct of the erring police constable, the police officer said. In the evening, he got bail from a court. |
