ICDS employees without salaries for months together

SRINAGAR, Nov 3: While the officers get their salaries on last date of every month as routine the employees working in ICDS under new pension scheme are without salaries for last six months now in the State.
Despite taking the issue to each and every officer who means in Social Welfare Department and Social Welfare Ministry, these hapless employees have failed to get justice till date.
The situation has become so grave for these hapless employees that some of them are at the verge of starvation as the government failed to pay them salaries for last six months.
Besides the salaries of ICDS Sector is also pending for last three months which has been a cause of brewing resentment among these employees.
The Government apathy towards these employees is so grave that theseniority list of supervisors have not been framed since 2004 despite the repeated pleas by the employees body.
Sources said that taking serious note of the Department's callousness towards its own employees the J&K Social Welfare/ Mission ICDS Non Gazetted Employees Association is up in arms against the Department and it has warned to come to streets in case the issues were resolved once for all.
The problem is not confined to the regular employees of the Department, but sources said that the Social Welfare Department ahs become defunct to such an extent that it has failed to pay salaries of migrant ICDS workers and helpers for last over one and a half year also.
These workers despite taking the issue with the officers of the Department and concerned Minster have failed to get the justice till date.
The migrant Anganwari workers while expressing their displeasure over the non payment of salaries over one and a half moth to them term it a big conspiracy to harass them by the officers at the helm of affairs against them.
Expressing surprise over the non payment of wages to the displaced Anganwari workers and helpers their representatives said that on the one hand the Government has appointed more workers in migrant bastis in Jammu while it failed to release the salaries of in service employees.
These hapless workers have made umpteen representations to Bali Bhagat Minister of Social Welfare and Forests as well as Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare but to no avail.
