Governance takes a hit as administration remains indifferent towards problems of masses | | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 3: Following the closure of Darbar Move offices here on October 31 the State is virtually Government less these days. Ministers are making bee line of their respective constituencies and are trying their bit to 'highlight' their achievements if any. Matters related to the various Government departments would linger on for at least a week or so since the Darbar Move offices would resume their normal business on November 9 at Jammu, the winter capital of the State. As such the common masses would have to wait for some more days before their problems are solved. "Although, the Darbar Move offices are reopening on November 9, but it would take another week or so for the files to be sorted out. There are some matters which need immediate action but the same is not possible in immediate future. There is a huge time gap between the closure and re-opening of the Darbar Move offices at Srinagar and Jammu respectively," said Mukhtar Ahmad, a Government official. There are people in Kashmir who opine that for the next six months or so the State Government would leave the people of the valley at the mercy of God. Given the vagaries of weather the people of valley are quite apprehensive about their future since the winter has already set in. "During the winter season the people of Kashmir are up against many odds. But the irony is that common masses are left to face the situation themselves as nobody from the Government is present in the valley. This has happened in the past and one is not enthused to believe that there would be some change this time around with the present dispensation," said Ali Mohammad, a resident of Budgam. Some of the people opine that very little work was carried out during the month of October since the Ministers and bureaucrats were busy on various fronts. The brief autumn session of the State Legislature coupled with the disturbing law and order situation in the Kashmir valley ensured that there were very few working days in October. "The Ministers were seen busy during the month of October and as such matters of public importance were relegated to the backseat. Long queues of people could be seen waiting outside the offices of different Ministers. These people had to leave disappointed and dejected as the concerned Minister was not present in his office chamber," said Javed Ahmad, a resident of Baramulla. Some of the Ministers of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) could be seen camping in the summer capital of the State, but it has got nothing to do with the day to day affairs of the Government. They are here to oversee the arrangements made for the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to be held here on November 7. "There is some activity with regard to the political parties particularly to those who are in power at present. It has to do with the Prime Minister's rally and not with the governance of the present dispensation. People's problems are not being addressed and it would take many more days before they are looked into by the people at helm," said Aijaz Ahmad, a resident of Sonwar. |
