Amitabh Mattoo: CM's pride, colleagues' envy 11/4/2015 12:23:32 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 3: Within a very short time since becoming Advisor to the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed with a Cabinet rank, Prof Amitabh Mattoo has apparently become most trusted lieutenant of the CM thus also becoming envy for his own colleagues, particularly those considered very close to the Muftis. According to the highly placed sources in the State Government, Prof Amitabh Mattoo has succeeded to establish himself as trouble shooter of the CM because of his administrative and political skills. More particularly, Prof Mattoo's links in New Delhi and his style of remain in touch with everyone at ground level are probing to be his unique qualities, which others in this Government lack, sources added. Faith of CM Mufti on competence of Amitabh Mattoo in comparison to others, became evident last month when one of the two victims of Udhampur petrol bomb attack died in a Delhi hospital. Sources said that Amitabh Mattoo was the first person, who received a call from the CM residence for an urgent over the issue while others were informed later on. If sources are to be believed, Prof Mattoo also played a major role in inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his scheduled visit to Srinagar. Mattoo managed to convenience PMO that a visit to Kashmir and announcement of an economic package would not only PDP-BJP coalition but also boost the image of Narendra Modi among Muslims of the country, sources added. However, on the other hand, the increasing influence of Amitabh Mattoo has made his colleagues in the PDP jealous towards him. Two senior Ministers of PDP, who were considered most confident of Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed before entry of Prof Mattoo in the Government, are most worried over the influence of this academician turn politician, sources said.
