Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Nov 3: Panic gripped in Kanispora - Johamma road in Baramulla district after "suspected kind of IED container" was discovered by security forces in the wee hours on Tuesday morning. An eyewitness told Early Times that, "Kanispora- Johamma road was evacuated following the discovery, with cordons placed around Kanispora area, where a Maruti 800 vehicle was found in a suspicious condition. A joint team of Army's 46 Rashtriya Rifle (RR), police and SOG rushed to the spot, where the object was discovered, adding a bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were called in to detect the "red container" which was placed in vehicle, that led to confusions and triggered tension in the area, said eyewitness. However sources said that, 46 RR carried out search of the particular area, after suspected red color container was found in a vehicle on Johama- Kanispora road in Baramulla district, adding the Maruti 800 vehicle was found in an abandoned state without number plate on it. On search of the vehicle an Ammonium Nitrate based IED was discovered below the rear seat of the vehicle by the BD squad which was approximately 4kg in weight, the IED was neutralized in by the BD squad by 9:30 am on Tuesday morning, said sources. The alert actions of the security forces were able to prevent a major tragedy in the area, while as the area has not witnessed any such incident for quite some time in the past, sources added. Meanwhile Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, north Kashmir range, Garib Dass told Early Times that, there was no Improvise Explosive Device (IED), actually it was a container fitted with wires on a road. Some miscreants have played a mischief by planting a container fitted with wires and fertilizer on Johamma road in Baramulla, said DIG. It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kashmir on Nov 7, for which elaborate security arrangements have been put in place. |
