"Separatists are no more relevant in Kashmir" | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 3: Anti-national and pro-Pak seperatists have become useless and are no more relevant in Kashmir, according to intelligence agencies which have been working overtime on their activities and funding channels. "Separatists have become irrelevant as people don't pay any heed towards their bandh calls and programmes. They issue these calls to let their mentors know that they are doing their job. They have given nothing to the people of Kashmir except for bloodshed and bandh calls. They have no contribution in the development of Kashmiris’. Even during the September floods, they had stoned the army personnel who were saving the Kashmiris’ by taking them out of the deluge in boats," a senior intelligence officer told Early Times over phone. The officer said the Hurriyat leaders were now a divided house over the issue of receiving funds from across the border. All of them wanted to have a major issue of the illegally received money through hawala rackets, he added. He said after separatist Geelani gave the 'million march' call to get attention on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's November 7 rally, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq too gave the 'Jamia Masjid chalo' call for November 6. "Both are exposed fully and are just struggling to keep themselves alive in media," he added. "Mirwaiz and his supporters are unhappy with the fact that Pakistan is giving a lot of importance to Geelani and their faction is being ignored," he said. A police official while talking to Early Times said, "Neither would we allow million march nor the Jamia Masjid chalo as we don't want to take chances. Separatists' calling for marches hardly makes any difference. We know it very well that only aim of the separatists is to foment trouble and create disturbance." He said, "Separatists in Kashmir are a divided house and they give calls and parallel calls to appease their bosses sitting in PoK and Pakistan. Police have succeeded in choking their hawala channels through which money used to flow into J&K. The ring leaders who used to orchestrate stone pelting and enforce shutdowns have also been put behind the bars." A source said, "Mirwaiz is unable to digest the fact that Pakistan doesn't recognize him anymore and the neighbouring country is putting all its weight behind Geelani. Soon after Pakistan extended its support to Geelani, many separatists whose tanzeems exist only on papers deserted Mirwaiz and joined Geelani's camp as they realized that money from other side would flow to Geelani camp only." The officer said the separatists were giving bandh calls and inciting people only to extract money from across the borders. |
