Sajad Lone becomes Modi's star campaigner for Srinagar rally | Wants to display his strength | | Peerzada Ummer ET Report Srinagar, Nov 3: Peoples Conference chairman and Minister for Science and Technology Sajad Gani Lone is emerging as a star campaigner for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Srinagar rally, scheduled to be held on November 7. As per reports, Lone, is striving to outnumber PDP in terms of gathering people for Modi's rally- asking people of his north Kashmir belt to make the November 7 a successful event. Sources informed that Sajad's peoples conference has booked no less than 200 passenger vehicles in which people would travel in droves from Kupwara to Srinagar to attend the rally of the Prime Minister. "Lone is making all possible hectic efforts to exhibit the strength he has and he wants to display the support he enjoys of the people of his constituency," sources said. Meanwhile, there are also reports that in a bid to differentiate his people from that of the PDP during the rally, Lone has planned to ask his supporters to hoist party flags. "Every person during the rally shall be handed over a small flag. He will be asked to wave that during the rally. Through such a move, it will clearly indicate the number of people Sajad Lone has managed to gather for the rally," sources said. There are also reports that the PC in its strong hold north Kashmir's Handwara and Kupwara belt, is making all possible efforts to aware people that they should ensure their participation in November 7 rally. It is the first time when Sajad Lone, who grabbed headlines ahead of 2014 State polls by meeting the Prime Minister is to openly support Modi during his Srinagar rally. Terming Modi his elder brother, Sajad hinted at his consent of developing a cordial relationship with the BJP. The party too didn't field any candidate against Lone during the 2014 polls with the former separatist too not speaking against the BJP during his campaign. During the government formation in March this year, Lone was inducted in Mufti's cabinet on BJP's quota and accorded two vital portfolios. BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, who is in charge of the party's affairs in Kashmir, held meetings with the Chief Minister and party leaders two days back to ensure people's participation in Modi's rally. The State Government is expecting that the Prime Minister will announce an all inclusive Rs 90,000 crore economic package for the State that would include relief for the victims of the unprecedented floods in 2014. Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, who has been visiting different places in the Kashmir Valley recently, has called upon people to come out in large numbers to attend Modi's rally. Sayeed said the Prime Minister's November 7 visit would be a turning point in the history of the state. Both the PDP and the BJP have been holding meetings to ensure a respectable turnout at the rally. |
