Bizarre Connivance: CEO orders probe in alleged use of school desks in 'shuttering'
CEO orders ZEO to probe allegations, submit report within three days

Banihal, Nov 3: Believe it or not but it is true that in a bizarre incident the wooden clefts of desks of a Govt Middle School Shabanbas Banihal were used for the shuttering of an under construction footpath of school by a contactor in connivance with the school management. Meanwhile Chief Education Officer has ordered for the inquiry in this regard and asked Zonal Education Officer to submit the inquiry report within the fixed time frame.
Sources in school management revealed that the under construction foot path of Govt Middle School Shabanbas situated on Jammu Srinagar Highway some two kilometer away from Banihal town allotted through rural development to a local contractor who used the wooden plates of desks for the shuttering of the footpath in close vicinity of said school.
The matter came to light when some locals submitted a written complaint before the Chief Education Officer(CEO) Ramban Mohammad Sharief Chowhan alleging therein that the desks of the school were broken and are used for the shuttering by the contractor with the help of school management .
The CEO has assured the villagers for prompt action against the involved employees of the department in to the matter.
Villagers further alleged that these sitting desks for the school were provided by the Army 12RR Battalion based in Banihal to the school under Operation Sadbhavana. Sources in education department informed that the chief education officer ordered for the inquiry to Zonal Education Officer Banihal and asked him submit the inquiry report within the fixed time frame.
Pertinent to mention here that Govt Girls Middle School Shabanbas have an enrollment of approximately 150 students of which maximum hail from Gujjar-Bakerwal (the poor strata) community.
