Jammu, Nov 13: A day long Educational Visit of Post Graduate (M.Sc and Ph.D) students was organized by Division of Biochemistry & Plant Physiology, SKUAST-Jammu visited State of Art facilities in School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Kakryal, Katra. According to press release, Director, School of Biotechnology and Dean Faculty of Engineering, SMVDU - Prof. (Dr.) V Verma briefed the students about the flora of Katra and urged them to work on the bioprospecting of medicinal plants. The students were shown various UG and PG laboratories viz., Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Plant Tissue Culture and Mass Array Lab. They also interacted with various faculty members specialized in above subjects including Dr. Indu Bhushan, Dr. Vinod Singh and Dr. Narender Kumar. The students got desired exposure and first hand information regarding the advance research activities going on in the school. Under the supervision of Dr. RK Gupta, Dean Faculty of Basic Sciences, SKUAST-J and Prof. S.A. Mallick (HOD of the division), the students were accompanied by Dr. Vikas Sharma Assisstant Professor (Biochemistry). The students that took part in the visit were Arti Heer, Deepika Sharma, Arvind Badyal, Harminder Kour, Palak Gupta, Neha Sharma, Navneet Kour, Payal, Kanika Sharma, Aasima Hamid, Rashmi Chalotra, Sapalika and others. |
