Srinagar, Nov 13: Amid tall claims of good governance, the department of consumer affairs and public distribution (CAPD) is alleged to have selectively transferred tehsil supply officers (TSOs), who were nearing retirement, to far flung areas to adjust influential 128 out of 325 TSOs as per their wish. To adjust 128 TSOs, having strong links in PDP and BJP, department of CAPD transferred over 100 TSOs in Kashmir to far flung areas. All of them are likely to retire in the next five to seven months. The TSOs, nearing retirement, alleged that their transfer at this moment would badly affect the work schedule in their offices and the supply of essential commodities at ration depots. They said they had been visiting the concerned CAPD district offices and office of the CAPD director at Srinagar more often to complete documentation process related to their retirement. Since they now stood transferred to the places which were about 200 km away from their home districts, they won't be able to complete their retirement papers, they added. They said while they had been transferred from Wagoora area of Baramulla to the far-off Gurez-Tangdar, the influential lot of TSOs, who still had over 10 years of service, were transferred to their home districts. "I have been transferred from Uri to another place at the distance of 100 kms. I wonder how I will reach office and at the same time complete the retirement papers,"one of them said. Another TSO replaced by a TSO having strong political contacts and transferred to a far flung area of South Kashmir from his present place of posting while expressing helplessness said that if government did not consider his demand he had no option except to apply for voluntarily retirement. Sources alleged that the transfers of TSOs were done selectively one as only 128 of them were transferred because some politicians wanted the "influential" TSOs" to be posted in their place. Meanwhile, despite repeated phone calls, CAPD director did not respond. |
