Early Times Report HANDWARA, Nov 13: A team of State Board of School Education (BOSE) came under scanner for choosing unsafe building as an examination centre for the 12th class annual examination 2015. Due to inadequate lighting and heating arrangements, students were hardly able to read and write their exams thus putting their career at stake. Sources said that BOSE has conducted the examinations of class 12th which began from today with no adequate arrangements. "Centre no 5179 which is placed at Government Higher Secondary School Zachaldara in Kupwara district is completely in shambles, the building was declared 'unsafe' by the concerned authorities after consecutive earthquakes hit Kashmir valley," sources told Early Times. Sources further said that the room was illuminated with candles thus leaving students in a state of melancholy. The examination started at 2:15 pm and it took almost two hours for students of different streams in reading it. "We are paying fee for examination that includes for comfortable examination rooms with lighting and heating arrangements," said a group of students. This is the only centre of class 12th examination being conducted at GHSS Zachaldara, where the total 43 students of different streams, like Arabic, Economics and Chemistry had come to write their exams. Most of the students felt aggrieved of inadequate rather completely poor visibility in the said examination center. Parents lamented over the callous approach of the authorities who said the said building of Higher Secondary has been recently declared as unsafe for use. Despite the fact that building may collapse anytime the concerned authorities did not take any cognizance of the issue, parents complained. "The building has broken window panes which are blocked visibility of light was completely poor, even though students were not able to read or write the examination papers, which has left the students in a deep shock as their future was put at stake," said the parents. Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Examination Superintendent of Centre no 5179, told early times that he was in distress after observing that students were not able to write their papers. "I have brought this issue into the notice of Principal GHSS Zachaldara, Ali Mohammad and the dealing assistant of Board Sub Office Langate Imtiyaz Ahmad," said the Superintendent. He admitted that due to inadequate lighting and heating arrangements, students and staff members facilities difficulties while conducting the exams. After informing the concerned authorities, nobody from Board Sub Office Langate had made a visit to check the arrangements in the examination centre, he added. The irony is despite facing criticism from different sections of the society authorities have failed to provide heating arrangement to the students during annual examinations. Due to inadequate lighting and heating arrangements the students were left to feel the heat. |
