Majid Nabi Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 13: As PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is likely to soon replace her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of J&K, speculations are rife about major reshuffle in the cabinet of ministers. Sources said there is every possibility of reshuffle in the existing cabinet headed by Mufti. "Barring a few, all ministers of the existing cabinet will be replaced and new faces according to their performance will be inducted. It would be, however, premature to say whether the coalition partner BJP agrees to replace its ministers as the onus lies with the BJP only," said sources. They said a decision in this regard would be taken as soon as Mehbooba takes over as Chief Minister. Sources said the decision of Mufti to replace himself with Mehbooba might not go well with some senior PDP leaders who are already at loggerheads with party high command over its alliance with the Sangh Parivar. "The behavior of some senior leaders is known to one and all. It will be quite difficult to say whether they could see Mehbooba becoming CM or they part their ways with the PDP," sources said. They said both decisions-replacing CM and reshuffle in the cabinet-are crucial, at least for the PDP, as in both ways the party will have to face revolt. "Both decisions are sensitive. There are certain people within PDP who are averse to Mehbooba becoming CM and at the same time reshuffle in cabinet will also trigger resentment," sources claimed. Sources said PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed has cautioned its leaders not to challenge party decisions and resort to any indiscipline. Notably, coalition partner BJP has already made it clear that it is not averse to Mehbooba becoming next CM of the state. |
