JAMMU, Nov 13: A large number of activists of Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) today staged protest demonstration against the Jammu University for making mockery of its off-site campuses, six of which are being run on adhoc arrangements despite seven years of existence, Rs 62.5 crore has been lapsed, and sought intervention of Chief Minister to clear the same. Addressing a gathering here today, leaders of JYF said that most of these campuses are running in rented buildings and efforts of the University Grants Commission to strengthen these campuses to erect buildings and other infrastructure have met with failure due to the callous attitude of the Jammu University. He further said that an amount of Rs. 125 crores was sanctioned by the University Grants Commission during the tenure of Prof. Varun Sawhney, the then Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, for over all development of these campuses. They further said that 62.5 crores amount was lapsed ending March 2015 putting the construction work to a grind half suddenly adding that because of negligence of the Vice Chancellor, the funds have been lapsed who has neither taken any action to fix the responsibility of the Chief Coordinator of Campuses nor did he make endeavour to approach the UGC to extend the grants. |
