JAMMU, Nov 13: The Government today announced break-up of the fresh relief for the flood-affected households out of Rs 80000 crore Prime Minister’s reconstruction plan announced recently. This will be in addition to the relief already paid to the flood-affected households and traders.
Enumerating the details, Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu said that Rs 3 lakh each would be given as compensation for fully damaged Pucca house, Rs 1.50 lakh for fully damaged Kutcha house, Rs 1 lakh for severely damaged Pucca house and Rs 50000 for severely damaged Kutcha house.
Dr Drabu said, ironically, no relief component for flood-affected houses and traders was factored in the Rs 10774 crore package, which was approved by the Government of India on 6 February 2015, before the present government assumed office in the State. He said the previous package encompassed four components including Rs 6481 crore for restoration of public infrastructure, Rs 4038 crore for flood management of Jhelum and Chenab rivers, Rs 155 crore for strengthening of State Disaster Management Authority and Rs 100 crore for establishing two emergency centres.
He said in the revised package announced by the Prime Minister in Srinagar on 7 November 2015, a dedicated allocation of Rs 1200 crore has been made for payment of relief for the flood-damaged houses and Rs 800 crore assistance has been provided for relief to be paid to the flood-affected traders.
Dr Drabu said in addition to humanitarian relief, around Rs 4000 crore have been earmarked in the Rs 80000 crore economic package for rebuilding flood-affected public infrastructure while another Rs 4000 crore have been earmarked for disaster management.
