JPSETTIA criticizes Government for pathetic results | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 1: Jammu Pvt. Schools & ETT Institutes Association (Progressive) has criticized state government for huge spending on government schools but with very poor outcome in case of results. "Information sought under RTI Act revealed that more than Rs. 1500/- per month excluding infrastructure cost is being spent on one government school student. So far academic standard of govt owned school is concerned, is also well exposed i.e. almost with 90% deficit in presence of highly qualified and highly paid teaching staff", the organization members said. They also said, reputation of state school Board has also been badly disturbed rather degraded by the rulers of recent past regimes with the result majority as on date prefers CBSE schools of high profiled private managements. "Despite repeated appeals, state govt or Bose top management seem reluctant for participation to private stake holders in important decisions making committees of state Board, it further added. Yesterday's news item of local print media related to one government owned school was quite exciting where six teachers @ almost Rs. 1.5 lakh per month were assigned the duty to teach merely eight students, again a mockery at the cost of public money, it further added. Against 500 students of a particular village, state govt's expenditure can be estimated as Rs. 1.2 Crore per year whereas the same strength of students can be educated in two private schools in a well monitored way by diverting half of the said amount in their favor, Association expressed. Half of the sanctioned amount can be paid directly to the teaching staff of such schools as an incentive to working educated youth", Association members added. They further said that the ongoing working or actions of the state government certainly seem casual towards priority sector of school education where huge public money is being spent uselessly on government sponsored schooling and extending an unfair and harassing attitude towards private stakeholders. They appealed for a meaningful conclusion of this highly important subject of school education in the best interest of students, state and private stakeholders |
