Sajad Lone's complex among 14 buildings sealed in Srinagar 12/1/2015 11:41:26 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 1: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday sealed 14 shopping complexes, including the complex of separatist turned mainstream politician and incumbent Animal Husbandry Minister Sajad Gani Lone here. Officials said that complexes were sealed for having no parking place as agreed at the time of granting building permission. "We would be sealing ten other complexes within next 48 hours," they said. Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir High Court had directed the SMC to seal 27 shopping complexes for failing to provide parking place within the complex for customers. The court direction came after the SMC counsel through a status report informed the court that out of 31 commercial complexes, 27 complex owners have failed to restore the car parking facilities and sealing orders were issued against these complexes on October 17, 2015. Hearing the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on traffic mess in Srinagar, a division bench comprising of Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey observed that owners of commercial complexes and shopping malls have been permitted to raise such constructions on furnishing of undertakings to the effect that they will provide parking facilities within such premises. However, the same area in the complexes are reported to have been put to commercial use. The court has also directed sealing of eight under construction complexes which has no provision of basement car parking. This was against the building permission granted by the SMC, the court said. The court observed that because of no parking in the shopping complexes, the customers are forced to park on roadside leading to traffic congestion and inconvenience to the general public.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
