Protesting polytechnic students detained | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 1: Police on Tuesday flexed muscles on Kashmir Government Polytechnic students and detained many including girls after they attempted to take out protest rally to Lal Chowk against the authorities erroneous evaluation of their marks sheets. Carrying banners and placards reading 'don't force us to commit suicide like Adnan did'; hundreds of students both male and female this afternoon appeared at Press Enclave and staged demonstrations to protest the erroneous evaluation by surveyors. The protesting students accused the authorities of using purposeful tactics to declare them failure in exams the way they did in Adnan Hilal Gilkar's case. Pertinently, an engineering student Adnan Hilal Gilkar committed suicide after the lecturer erroneously checked his paper and declared him failure in Physics subject. However when the parents applied for rechecking he had secured 70 percent marks in the same subject forcing the government for his compulsory retirement form the services. |
