Jammu, Dec 8: The ongoing Drama festival which is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages in which Sangam Tru production today staged a play Fandi here at Abhinav Theatre. According to press release the play was written by Shanker Shesh and it was translated by Icchu Pal Singh in Punjabi while the play was directed by Sourav Verma. Fandi is facing the murder charge of having murdered his terminally ailing father. A nervous inexperienced lawyer is appointed to defend Fandi. The lawyer, a good hearted and sensitive man tries to help Fandi whole heartedly, but he falters badly with minor deviation from the planned rehearsed scenario. Fandi's hopes of escaping the noose fade as his friends turn foe and his wife doesn't turn up for testimony. Other witnesses naively close the door to Fandi's release. The lawyer recognizes his own inefficiency and invites another senior advocate. The senior argues the case but the judgment is left to the imaginations of the audience. Thus the perennial dilemma is not resolved. The role of Fandi was played by Ayaan Ali, Advocate by Sandeep Verma while warden was played by Love Anand. Set designed by Sandeep Verma whereas lights and music was handled by Mohit Mehra and the play was assisted by love Anand. |
