Woman dies after receiving injection, 'chemist' held | People protest, demand action against doctor also | | M S Nazki Early Times Reoprt Mendhar, Dec 8: A woman died after receiving an injection at a chemist shop here today. After the people protested, police apprehended the chemist shop employee who had administered the injection. Gulshan Kousar, wife of Alman Din of Chhajjala, Mendhar, today visited SDH, Mendhar, for the treatment of cold and fever. She was examined by physician, Dr Jitender Kumar. "After getting medical prescription from the doctor, she went to the Majid Medical Hall opposite Police Station, Mendhar. As the doctor had also suggested her to take an injection, chemist shop employee Shahid Ahmad, son of Kramat Hussain of Jughal, Mendhar, administered it. As soon as she received the injection, the woman got unconscious and she was immediately shifted to SDH, Mendhar, where she died after nearly four hours," sources informed. After the people protested, police lodged an FIR against Shahid and arrested him. The medical shop was also closed. The relatives of the victim alleged that the injection given to the woman was faulty. They also accused the doctor of negligence in examining the victim. They demanded suspension of Dr Jatinder Kumar. When contacted, Poonch DC M H Malik said he had directed police to lodge FIR against the delinquent worker and investigate the matter thoroughly. |
