Pak sidelines separatists, accepts defeat | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 8: The National Security Advisors (NSAs) of India and Pakistan meeting in Bangkok earlier this week has left separatists red faced as Pakistan has reportedly sidelined them and wants to go ahead with parleys to improve its relations with India. Sources told Early Times that NSA level talks followed by the visit of External Affairs Minister Sushma Sawraj to Pakistan have sent the separatists into tizzy. "Most separatists were of the opinion that Pakistan won't talk to India without taking them into confidence as they have been preaching secessionism at Pakistan's behest," sources added. They said, "A few separatists have asked the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani to take up the matter with Pakistan and register protest rather than acting as a mute spectator." Pertinently, separatists have been preaching secession and hatred towards India for the past 25-years at Pakistan's behest. Most separatists who have joined the Geelani camp have been advocating merger of Kashmir into Pakistan. "Pakistan ditching separatists and literally surrendering before India to normalize the ties has hit people kike Geelani below the belt as they are left with nothing to sell," said an analyst. He said Pakistan has been made to climb down. "Since the day Modi led government has taken over the reins of the country it has made it clear to Pakistan that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and separatists are non-entities. It seems Pakistan has realized the futility of harping about Kashmir and separatists. The neighboring country seems to have understood that friendly relations with India are must for its survival," the analyst added. He said India and Pakistan engaging in a bilateral dialogue with each other have left separatists with no choice other than to fall in the line. "Separatists should realize that they cannot mislead people anymore and time has come for them to wind up their shops. India cancelled bilateral level talks with Pakistan twice because neighboring country insisted on talking to separatists ahead of the parleys. Separatists should read the writing on the wall rather than beating around the bush," he added. Pertinently, India hardening its stand during the past one and a half year has pushed Pakistan to wall all its attempts to trigger violence in Jammu and Kashmir have been foiled. Pakistan got a befitting reply for violating ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) as alert troops didn't allow the Pakistan Rangers to succeed in their design to push in militants into Jammu and Kashmir under the garb of cover fire. "A handful of militants operating in Kashmir are on run as security forces are not allowing them to raise their head. Pakistan has been cornered from all the sides now it's trying to save itself from further humiliation. The proxy war started by Pakistan has almost been crushed and it's paid agents stand exposed. Pakistan has been begging to revive the cricket ties and other activities but India has not given in and has set conditions for normalizing the relations," said an expert. |
