'Digital India campaign' still a distant dream in J&K | Key departments' websites reveal less, conceals more | | G S Asgotra Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 8: Making mockery of 'Digital India campaign' recently launched by Prime Minister for bringing transparency either in Government or departmental functioning, the key departments of Jammu and Kashmir Government leaving no stone unturned to conceal important information on websites. Websites of Government departments including Public Works (R&B) Department, Public Health and Engineering Department (PHE), State Health Department, State Board of School Education (BOSE) and even Department of Higher Education, the majority of websites have not been updated for long and even some websites have been catering obsolete information. The callous approach of departments can be gauged from this fact that the department Public Works (R&B), had updated last order No.- 299-PW(R&B) of 2014 on its website on 9-07-2014 whereas the department of PHE had updated the last order on 23-01-2014 and last circular on the website on 26-12-2013. The website of Higher Education Department is revealing the latest circular on their website which came to force on 21-11-2014 and circular number is HE/Coll./NG/JK/circular 2014. "According to norms laid by the Government of India, every department should be updated with contact numbers of the all key officials of aforesaid departments, Directory, Notification, Circulars and orders even the future planning and projects which are under construction", said an official wishing anonymity. The Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department is slightly updated as compared to above said departments but still orders/circulars of previous fortnight are updated while in case of tenders, the NIT of April 2013 is still on display. |
