Jammu, Dec 8: In the infamous sex scandal scam that surfaced in Akhnoor recently, Police have arrested five persons and the hunt is on to trace three others who are believed to be a part of this racket.
Sources told Early Times that names of three other accused were disclosed by the victim before the court after she was brought back to Jammu. The victim was later handed over to her parents.
Most of the arrested persons are those who are running businesses in the Akhnoor and Jammu city areas.
Sources alleged that Police resorted to dilly dally approach to secure the arrests when the matter was brought into the notice of low rung officials. Police swung into action after the media highlighted the issue.
The scam surfaced after Punjab Police sounded alert about high profile dignitaries from JK being involved in this scandal. During the preliminary investigations, the police identified scores of reputed persons of the Jammu city.
This minor girl, who hails from Akhnoor, was caught under suspicious circumstances with a Punjabi youth in Pathankot. During interrogation by Punjab Police, the girl broke down and revealed that she was being exploited by these big names in JK.
During the preliminary investigations, the girl revealed that she was living at Pacca Danga. She told investigators her story about how she landed in the sex trade and gave the names of people who were responsible for her exploitation.
Though the police are tight-lipped over the names of persons involved but the sources said that the girl has given graphic account of how she was raped repeatedly by at least 20 persons, whom she can identify. |
