Jammu, Dec 8: The crime branch of police today produced challan against proprietors of Chenab Gas Agency, Shivangi Gas Agency and others in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Jammu. The challan was presented in case FIR No 01/2014 under sections 406, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of RPC read with section 3/7 of E C Act. The case was registered with the crime branch, Jammu, on an information received through a reliable source that some dealers and suppliers of cooking gas agencies in Jammu had clandestinely maintained fake and fraudulent gas records on fictitious and non-existent names, whereby gas obtained on subsidised rates from the government was being fraudulently issued to the fictitious persons in records but factually the gas was sold dishonestly in black market on non-subsidised rates, thereby causing a huge loss to the state exchequer and gain to themselves. It was found that this racket was being run by the dealers and suppliers of LPG agencies operating in Jammu with the active connivance of some other departments. On the basis of evidence, oral as well as documentary collected by the crime branch during the course of investigation, the accused were found to have committed offence under section 406, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC read with section 3/7 of E C Act and challaned in the court of law for judicial determination of the case.
