Early Times Report
Poonch, Dec 8: Vowing to fight for constitutional right till end, the members of general category people today demanded that government without any delay must implement the High Court decision on no reservation in promotions on ground.
In an extraordinary meeting held at Dashnami Akhara complex Poonch which was largely attended by hundreds of people from all sections of the society, it was decided that the general category people will fight tooth and nail for their constitutional right.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Er Saleem Bandey. While appreciating the decision of High Court regarding quashing of reservation in promotions, the meeting demanded in one voice that government should implement the decision in letter and spirit and without any delay.
They all said in one voice that High Court has done a great justice with people from general category. The speakers said that the historic decision of Double Bench of J&K High Court in which the candidates of reserved categories have been barred in promotion in government services is highly appreciable.
They also quoted that reservation in promotions has deprived the general category incumbents of their constitutional right of equal opportunity in advancement of their career even after getting appointed on merit where as some reserved category candidates appointed by reservation are being further promoted to next higher post leaving general categories candidates to suffer the mental agony and sheer frustration.
They demanded that reservation in promotions be brought to an end as it was helping only a few families who are already well off and well placed in strata of society. They pointed out that High Court of J&K after thorough assessment of situation of J&K Reservation Rules 2005, found them violating the basic Fundamental Rights to Equality an enshrined in Constitution of India.
Those who spoke on the occasion were CPO Shahin Khan, Pankaj Maini, Amrish Kumar, Manjeet Kumar, Sabar Bitta, Prof JS Vir, Basant Ram, Prof. M H Shah, Zaki Hyder, Advocate Sanjay Raina, Advocate Anjum, Sudershan Sharma, Senior citizen KK Kapoor, Rajeev Sharma, Amar Singh Josh, Vijay Sudan, Ajeet Singh and others. Vote of thanks was presented by Er Saleem bandey who organised the meeting.
