JAMMU, Dec 12 : Lambasting the transport department for ignoring the convenience of the students, NPSU President Thakur Virender Singh expressed his resentment over the miserable plight of the student fraternity in a press conference held at party headquarters in Jammu today. Addressing the media persons, he said that it has been reported frequently that the superfast buses plying all across Jammu Division avoid embarking the students. Moreover, the buses charge full fare from them thus denying their right of discounted fare. He said that with the decrease of diesel prices, transport department has miserably failed to cut down the transport fares which was a direct burden on the passengers including the students. He added that despite gheraoing the transport commissioner and the RTO earlier on this issue nothing has been done so far. He also took a jibe on RTO office that the said office has been persistently delaying the issuance of the learner's license and permanent license card to the applicants which was causing huge inconvenience to the students during scrutiny of their travel documents by the traffic police. He exhorted the transport department and the RTO office to stream line their functioning besides safe guarding the interest of the student fraternity otherwise NPSU shall resort to agitation course for their genuine demands. |
