Farooq to pay price for his anti-army remark | FIR in Bihar's Sitamarhi | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 12: An FIR against Farooq Abdullah for his November 27 anti-India remarks and his November 29 anti-army statement was filed on Saturday against him not in J&K but in Bihar's Sitamarhi police station and that too after the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Sitamarhi district, after hearing the case, ordered that an FIR be filed against Abdullah in Dumri police station. The FIR was filed by local lawyer Thakur Chandan Kumar, who, like all true Indians, felt outraged and rightly concluded that Farooq Abdullah, former J&K Chief Minister and Union Minister, insulted the Indian Army and violated the constitution. On November 27, Farooq Abdullah courted controversy by saying that Line of Control (LoC) should be converted into an international border between India and Pakistan and making an outrageous statement that Pakistan-Occupied-Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) should remain part of Pakistan while Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) should continue to be part of India. He also claimed that former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had proposed the same to then Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and maintained that "this is the only solution to present problem". Two days later on November 29, Farooq Abdullah said that even entire Indian Army couldn't defend Kashmir and Kashmiris from militants. "How much can the Army defend us? Even if the entire Army of India came to our rescue, they cannot defend us against terrorists or militants. The only way left is to hold dialogue (with Pakistan) and find a solution," he said while interacting with party activists in Jammu. "Ever since I came into politics, I have always said that this State (PoJK and J&K) can never become one. Neither do we have the power to take back their part (PoJK) nor have they (Pakistan) the power to take our part; we are a nuclear power and they, too, are," he had also said, and added that reconciliation between the two countries could alone bring peace in the State. It is heartening that Thakur Chandan Kumar has approached the court and sought criminal proceedings against Farooq Abdullah. But the question is: will the State Government and the Modi Government also discharge their obligations towards the State and order the police to take action not only against Farooq Abdullah, but also his brother Mustafa Kamaal, who said in Srinagar on the birthday celebrations of late Sheikh Abdullah that Kashmir is destined to get azaadi" and all those who have unleashed anti-India campaign in Kashmir under the very nose of the law and order authorities? All the well-wishers and friends of India want the Modi Government to give up its weak-kneed policies and act tough against the separatists. |
