Prolonged power cuts affect normal life, MLC convenes meeting with PDD, PHE officials

Rajouri, Dec 12: For the last few weeks inhabitants of Rajouri district have been facing many problems due to power curtailment ranging between 16-18 hours, including official power curtailment for 10 hours, in a day. Meanwhile, advocate Vibodh Gupta, MLC today convened a review meeting of the officials of Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Power Development Department (PDD) and directed them to complete,
The prolonged and unscheduled curtailments and even power failure for many days together in various places not only had adversely affected the studies of the students preparing for forthcoming final examinations ( in winter zone like final examination are in progress) but also had hit the business community.
The affect of the long power cuts could also be seen in the government offices and in the banks as net banking sometimes gets affected.
Budhal residents held a demonstration against the PDD officials for not responding their repeated attempt to contact on phones and also approached to concerned SHO seeking his intervention. "In case the PDD officials failed to restore power within next two days, people have decided to lock the PDD office as well as grid station," threatened Shahnawaz and Farooq Ahmed
Pertinently for the last two days for only few hours the power could be restored in Rajouri town due to technical snag that developed in a Transformer at grid station at Thudi (Rajouri).
"The repair work of the transformer is in progress and to accommodate the load of this transformer on other transformers, rotational curtailment shall be done on all the feeders feeding Rajouri, Kotranka , Budhal and Manjakot' Siad Umesh Parihar, Executive Engineer, PDD.
Meanwhile, advocate Vibodh Gupta, MLC today convened a review meeting of the officials of Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Power Development Department (PDD) and directed them to complete the sanctioned works within stipulated time frame already initiated under various government schemes.
He directed the PDD officials to speed-up the up gradation and augmentation work of different power supply schemes and transformers across the district. He also asked them to replace the existing conductors which are in very bad shape and are also posing a great threat to the lives of local residents.
While interacting with the officials of PHE Department, the MLC directed the officials to find the loopholes which are becoming the hurdles in the implementation of the water supply schemes across the district in general and those which were sanctioned exclusively for Rajouri town in particular.
