Locals protest over non-supply of CAPD ration since four months | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Dec 12: The residents from different areas of Udhampur district are continuing with demonstrations alleging that they are not getting sugar for the last 4 months. A large number of locals assembled at Hospital Road Udhampur staged demonstration against Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) officials alleging that the department has failed to provide ration and sugar for the last three months. Sunil Guda, and other speakers alleged that for the last four months they have been visiting to their ration depot at W- 7 but they either find the outlet closed or the sugar out of stock. "As majority of beneficiaries either belong to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category or middle class category and they can't afford to purchase especially Sugar at higher prices from the open market." Similar reports about protest are reported Mongri, Chenani Rathian, Ramnager and etc. When contacted Assistant Director Joginder Singh said that the supply of sugar is reportedly to be released today and the same will provided to outlets Monday for its due disbursal to ration card holders within two days. |
