Early Times Report Jammu, Dec. 13: In the memory of late Gobind Kour, who was the first woman Sculptor of the State, Bhartiya Kala Sangam today organized soulful Bhajan Sandhya at Raipur Satwari and renowned singers of the State kept the audience spell-bound by singing devotional songs. In this function, R.S.Chib, former Minister of the State was the Chief Guest whereas Leela Jamwal , Advisor BKS, T.R.Sharma KAS(Retd), Romesh Singh Chib, Chairman and Director BKS respectively as well as other dignitaries were present. While addressing the audience, Chib lauded the efforts of the BKS for presenting such a rich Bhajan Sandhya by inviting well acclaimed singer of the State, Surinder Singh Manhas who kept the audience deeply delved in the religious atmosphere. He said that late Gobind Kour has contributed a lot in the field of sculpture and by remember through the medium of devotional songs, it is a big tribute to her. Earlier, T.R.Sharma, Chairman BKS, while welcoming the dignitaries and audience, gave a grief details about the functioning of BKS since 1983 during which numerous cultural events have been organized, especially involving budding artists and providing its forum in order to groom the new talents. The artists who performed were Surinder Singh Manhas , Marina Manhas, Mukesh Kamal, Rampal and Group. The program was ably anchored by Parveen K. Sharma and vote of thanks was presented by R.S.Chib, Director BKS. |
