Lok Sabha debate on Article 370 upsets Congress
Attack on PDP-BJP

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 13: The Friday debate in the Lok Sabha on Article 370 and plight of the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus and other victims of fanaticism, including those from Pakistan, has upset and rattled the "secular" Congress. It has fielded its MLA from Sopore Abdul Rashid Dar to express its concern over the Lok Sabha debate on J&K, refugees and Article 370.
The Lok Sabha on December 11 not only discussed Article 370, but also adopted a resolution that desired the Government of India to settle the displaced Kashmiri Hindus in their own homeland. The resolution also talked about the rights of the refugees from Pakistan. The resolution, which is not a binding on the Union Government, was supported by all the parties, barring the Congress whose representatives were not present in the House. They had staged a walkout on another issue even before the Speaker allowed a debate on the Private Member's Bill on J&K. The PDP MPs were, however, present in the House and they went by the sense of the House.
It was the presence of the PDP MPs in the House and their attitude that disturbed the "secular" Congress. Dismissing the PDP-BJP coalition Government in the State as "cancerous" for the State, Dar on behalf of the Congress reportedly said that the "PDP MPs behaved like silent spectators in the Parliament while BJP MPs promised to abrogate Article 370 stating that Parliament has powers to do away with the Article which is cancerous for the Indian constitution.
"It was unfortunate that PDP MPs acted like silent spectators in the Parliament when BJP MPs delivered speeches in the Parliament on Article 370 and called for scrapping it immediately while terming it as an Article that is cancerous to the Indian constitution," Dar was quoted as saying. He further said that the two parties had formed a coalition Government in the State after devising an "Agenda of Alliance" in which they had agreed that Article 370 would not be touched. The BJP MPs' speeches in the Parliament calling for abrogation of Article 370 should serve as an eye-opener for PDP President and MP Mehbooba Mufti, he said while taking an exception to the role of the PDP MPs in the Lok Sabha .
"Can Mehbooba and Mufti Muhammad Sayeed-led Government explain what the 'Agenda of Alliance' is then if their alliance partners want to abrogate Article 370," he asked, and further said that the "PDP-BJP coalition Government is cancerous for Jammu & Kashmir and the Government has been taking diktats from the RSS and became their slave". The PDP MPs should have shed light on the importance of Article 370 in the Parliament and not allowed the BJP parliamentary party to even initiate a debate on Article 370, he reportedly said.
Dar didn't stop just there. He further said: "This (the role of the PDP MPs in the Lok Sabha) proves that the Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's assertion that Article 370 is a bridge connecting Jammu & Kashmir with India and talking of reclaiming power projects back from Government of India are all a hoax as were his claims of 'battle of ideas' that provide for a level playing field for everyone".
This is the Congress. It is not secular; it's a party with a perverted ideology. What the Congress on Saturday said must make the people of Jammu and Ladakh sit up to devise a strategy to defeat such perverted and anti-Hindu parties as the Congress. The people of the State had shown the Congress its rightful place in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State. It, appears, has not learned any lesson from those two ignominious defeats. They had to ensure that the parties like the Congress are never voted to power.
