SWD launches Ladli Beti Scheme

Kathua, Dec.13:-Minister for Social Welfare, Forests, Ecology and Environment, Bali Bhagat today launched the social security scheme Ladli Beti today as also another insurance-based scheme AASRA aimed at benefiting low-income families of the State. Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Asiya Naqash, DDC Kathua Ramesh Kumar, other officers of the district, concerned staff of Social Welfare Department and the beneficiaries were present on the occasion.
While addressing on the occasion, Bali Bhagat informed that State government has launched 'Ladli Beti' scheme for those families whose annual income is less than Rs 75 thousand and unable to nourish their girl child further adding that government selected 8 district including district Kathua wherein sex ratio is very low. He said according to this scheme state government will open a bank account of those girl child who born after 1st April 2015 and deposit Rs 1000/- per month till child reaches the age of 14 yrs old further divulging that the total Rs 6.5 lacs will be given to the child when she reaches at the age of 21 and this scheme is designed to cater to the needs of poor section of the society and provide the much needed social and economic security to the girl child .He urged the society to come forward and put in place concerted efforts to create congenial environment where a girl child gets fair opportunity to prove her mettle in each and every sphere of life.
