UDHAMPUR, Dec 13: Angered by the death of a youth in an assault at Bagheta in Katra, people held a demonstration at Omara Morh here today, blocking the national highway to vehicular traffic.
They alleged that a youth was killed on being assaulted by some other youth at Bagheta last night, regretting that some locals had held the accused to escape from the spot. "Two youth were assaulted. While one died in GMCH, Jammu, the other was battling for his life," they informed.
They also demanded a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for the victim's family.
The protesters dispersed peacefully after they were assured by DSP Gourav Mahajan that justice would be done in the case. |
