Early Times Report Anantnag, Dec 13: An RTI activist from Anantnag today accused Revenue Department of denying him the information which he had sought from the authorities. Sheikh Meboob-ul-Maryam, a Dailgam resident had filed an application Under RTI Act- 2009 in the month of March this year and sought a complete list of flood sufferers from Assistant Commissioner Revenue Anantnag, however despite passage of more than seven months the applicant is yet to receive the information. A Xerox copy of the applicant's application available with Early Times reveals that Sheikh Meboob-ul-Maryam s/o Lt Sheikh Ghulam Nabi R/o Peth Dailgam Anantnag on 28-3-2015 filled the application with PIO to Assistant Commissioner Revenue and sought the information related to flood sufferers. The applicant demanded a complete list of the families who suffered due to floods in Anantnag town particularly in Dagpora, Boat colony, Batpora, Mirgund, Chee, Zadipora, Khanabal, Nai-basti, Nandpora, Nathpora, K P Road, Mominabad and Arampora. Applicant has also sought the list of flood victims falling under fully, partially and severely affected category while as in his application demanded the information about the relief money sanctioned to families. Talking to Early Times, Sheikh Meboob-ul-Maryam said that despite repeated pleas, the revenue authorities denied information. "You can yourself guess, how the officials take RTI Act," he said, adding non-serious approach of officials in providing the information is a blatant violation of Law and casts shadows over the functioning of this government. He said that blocking the information related to last year floods vindicated my position that it is big scam which I will leave no stone unturned to unearth it. He sought intervention of SIC. |
