For the last 36 hours, power was supplied only for few hours, leaving residents in lurch besides those who depend on power for various activities have been facing problems to perform the same. Due to power curtailment the water supply is also halted. Power Development Department (PDD) officials said that due to over loading the bushes of 20 MVA transformer No-1,installed at Thudi grid station and feeding old Rajouri town and Kheora areas, got damaged due to over loading and recent torrential rains. The Power Development Department (PDD) officials engaged in the repair of the damaged transformer are hopeful that by mid night today the damaged transformer will be made functional and by 1 am the power will be restored to the affected areas. Pertinently, according to a senior officer of the PDD department the registered load with the department from these areas is about 60MVA while the consumer using the electricity for more than 67 MVA and the over loading was the main reason behind the damage to the transformer and for unscheduled power cuts to give rest to all the overloaded transformers. He said that the work is in progress for the last two days to repair the damaged bushes and it was hoped that by 12.30 am (midnight) the transformer will be made operational. He further said that to accommodate the load of the damaged transformer on other transformers, rotational curtailment is being made on other feeders like Rajouri, Kotranka, Budhal , Manjakot etc. |
