Thana police give 'crime' go-by, busy challaning vehicles
12/13/2015 10:59:44 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 13: It is appreciable that, apart from the traffic police, the thana police are too challaning the violators but it should not be done by giving a go-by to eve-teasing and other petty crimes that get ignored in the city almost daily.
The thana police, led by SHOs and police post heads, can nowadays be seen booking the violators of traffic rules at almost all the city crossings, but while doing so, they fail to give proper attention to the incidents of eve-teasing and other petty crimes in the city.
"They book the violators, make an inventory of the challaned vehicles and submit it to the SSP through the police station Munshi," police sources said, adding that the thana police had even been given the target of booking the violators.
Sources said since their work of keeping crime under control was more important, they should take note of the increased incidents of eve-teasing in the city and its peripheries and take appropriate steps to make sure that women "feel safe while moving in the markets".
