Hari Om seeks unconditional apology from BJP
For forming govt with PDP
12/13/2015 11:00:24 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13: Terming as alarming the December 12 New Delhi statement of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti that the PDP sought consent from the Hurriyat leadership for forming government with BJP in J&K, senior politician and former Head of Jammu University's History Department, Prof Hari Om, on Sunday asked BJP leadership to tender an unconditional apology to the nation for its act of betrayal of the national interest.
"With Vajpayee the experience was good, but forming an alliance with the present BJP was not easy for us. It took us two months to decide the agenda of alliance. Hurriyat party was also called and getting consent on most of the issues the government is working," Mehbooba said while speaking at Agenda Aaj Tak. She was replying to query about formation of alliance with BJP. Her statement clearly suggested that the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance and formation of PDP-BJP coalition government in J&K had the blessing of the anti-India Hurriyat leadership, said Prof Hari Om.
"The Mufti's revelation didn't at all surprise the nationalist people of Jammu and Ladakh, as they were already aware of the credentials of PDP, its ideology and its stand on political status of J&K, Hurriyat leadership and Pakistan. What shocked and dumbfounded them was the unflinching and unconditional support that the fake nationalist BJP extended to PDP to hurt the national cause in J&K and jeopardize the general socio-economic and political rights and interests of the people of Jammu and Ladakh and lakhs and lakhs of victims of fundamentalism and extremism," said Prof Hari Om. He added that the statement of Mehbooba Mufti has called the BJP's bluff and exposed its perverted thinking.
"It is now manifestly clear that BJP never believed in what it preached before May 2014 to mislead and hoodwink the nation and seek national mandate for dislodging the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre and NC-Congress coalition Government in J&K," he said, adding that by allowing itself to be dictated by pro-self-rule PDP and pro-Pakistan Hurriyat leadership, BJP has sealed its fate for ever not only in Jammu and Ladakh but also across the nation.
"No one would now trust the BJP leadership. The Mufti's statement has completely discredited the entire BJP leadership, and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and exposed their duplicity and politics of deceit and emotional blackmail. The statement of Mufti has blackened the face of the BJP leadership beyond recognition," said Prof Hari Om. He asserted that the nation will not forgive the BJP for the heinous crime it committed against the nation for the sake of some loaves and fishes of office in J&K.
Prof Hari Om also questioned the BJP's foreign policy vis-à-vis Pakistan and termed the December 9 Islamabad Indo-Pak joint-statement worse than that of Sharm-el-Sheikh that had de-linked terror from dialogue process. He said the Islamabad declaration was nothing but a betrayal of the national mandate and the BJP will have to pay through its nose for its Islamabad sin.
"The revelation of Mehbooba Mufti and the Islamabad declaration will ensure the political demise of the BJP in J&K and rest of the country," he said, and added that the BJP will be rejected with contempt by the Indian electorate like the people of Delhi and Bihar rejected it in the assembly elections and the people of UP and Gujarat rejected the BJP in the Panchayat and local-bodies elections. "The last month's massive defeat of the BJP in by-election in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam Lok Sabha constituency was also an indication that anti-BJP wave has gripped the country and that it has fallen from grace," Prof Hari Om claimed.
Prof Hari Om urged the people of Jammu and Ladakh and victims of terrorism to get themselves prepared for a full-scale movement against BJP and its unsettling policies. "The people of Jammu and Ladakh and victims of terrorism would get completely sub-merged under the rising tide of the BJP-endorsed and supported Kashmiri Muslim sub-nationalism in case they remained dormant and devoid of political activity any longer," he warned them. "It is time for them to act and act fast," he said.
