Udhampur, Dec 13 : The National Lok Adalat held at the Munsiff court complex Majalta disposed of a record 505 cases of different natures and realizing an amount of Rs 22,07,547 in different cases settled on spot . . National Lok Adalat was held for speedy disposal of cases under the patronage of Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority, and under the guidance of Chairman District Legal services authority Udhampur R.C Jain at Majalta . In the Lok Adalat held under the chairmanship of Touseef Ahmed Magaray ,Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Majalta , as many as 505 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 22,07,547 was settled in different cases . A total 145 electricity cases were disposed off on spot realized an settlement amount of 18,36,800 rupees . Six bank recovery cases were also settled and 3,19,387 lakh was recovered after settlement between parties and Jammu and Kashmir bank . Besides, these cases 28,550 rupees fine was realized in 23 criminal compoundable cases and an amount of 22,810 was recovered as fine disposing 306 traffic challans . 20 civil and five revenue cases were also settled in the lok adalat . Munsiff Majalta said that "It was record in place like small tehsil Majalta . People volunteered on their own to resolve long pending disputes. He said that the Lok Adalats are being organised to ensure speedy justice and save the people from lengthy court proceedings as there are minimal chances of further litigation or dispute in the cases solved in Lok Adalats as the cases are being settled with the mutual consent of both the parties. He said a free legal aid clinic is working at Majalta and is helping in providing justice at doorstep of people and aware them on various social issues time to time . |
