Equal status to women is still awaiting | | Sunaina Malik | 12/13/2015 11:37:30 PM |
| There can never be two opinions in the fact that women ensure the continuity of human race on the back of this planet by giving birth to off springs of homosapiens. It is only a woman who is the epitome of exquisiteness, adore, benevolence, warmth, humanity, sacrifice, commitment, hard work, subordination and morality in this whole universe. A woman as a mother showers her affection on you till her death, a woman as a wife fills your life with her love, a woman as a daughter enriches your house with her innocent laughter, a woman as friend always shows you right direction in your life, a woman as sister shares pain and worries of your life, a woman as a Grand mother favour you even in your wrong, a woman as a married daughter remains worry for old awaiting parents. In spite of nourishing and feeding human race from the day of inception, it is very tough for me to comprehend that why woman is still lagging behind in her chase of acquiring equal status in the society. I am very apologetic to say that, all those who claim that our society is giving equal share to women are actually shallow in their claim. Occurrence of incident at Ahmadnagar District of Maharastra on 29 November, 2015 where purification puja of Lord Shahi was performed after a young woman offered worship to the idol placed on the platform of Shain Shingnapur Temple further proved the fact that society is bias towards woman. Irony is temple authority even suspended seven workers for this negligence. They further justified their act by saying that it is an 400 to 500 old practice of prohibiting women from entering inside the shrine, we are just following the ritual. Story of partial treatment with women doesn't impede here, there is a long list of holy religious places where women are barred to enter and to pay their offerings there. (1)Kerala's lord Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala bans girl and woman between the age of 10 to 50 years from entering. (2)Sree Padmana bhaswamy Temple also does not allow girls to enter inside. (3)Patbausi Satra Assam There is no written instruction or decision of not allowing women to enter the Santum Santorium but it is just a tradition practiced from centuries (4) Jamia Masjid Though allow women to enter but they cannot enter the Minaretes with out male accompany them and they are not allowed to enter after the Magrib prayer. (5)Lord Karlekaya Temple Pushkar According to legend, women entering the Temple will be cursed instead of getting blessed. Women are also not allowed to enter in side Dargah Haji Ali Mumbai. They are allowed to offer their tribute from out side the shrine. Not even this but naïve women have been partially treated by the society from the time immemorial. Almost at every juncture of her life she is forced to mourn over her being born as a female. (1) Let us from her birth on a family. Almost in every Indian family birth of only male child is cherished, female born babies are always accepted with heavy hearts. Here irony is obsession for male child has reached up to such an extend that 12 million girl child being aborted over last three decades according to 2011 study by Lancet. (2) Male child is preferred over female child in sphere of love care and attention in family. (3)Girls are also partially treated at the time of going to schools. There is a general perception that there is no need to spend more money over girl's education she has to go to another family. Large number of only girls in comparison to boys in Govt. institution is the face of partial treatment of girls by their parents. (4) Society is also biased with girls at the time of their marriage. If a male shows his choice regarding any girl. It is welcomed in the society. But if a girl chooses some body for marriage it becomes a matter of dishonour for the family. The girl is afterward scolded and labeled as immoral. (5)Women are not given equal rights in the matters of inheritance of parental property. Though there are laws of inheritance for girls but we all know girls are barred from this right also. (6)A woman in parental house is considered as an identity of her would be in-laws and in in-laws house she can be thrown out at any time. Society has given full powers to male to use and mould a woman accordingly. In this situation she does not own any house of her own. (7)If any of victim woman revolts against her exploitation and managed to get divorce from her culprit husband or in -laws, society never criticized wrong people but it is only a woman who has to face the hate of society afterwards. A woman remains in an incessant dread of losing her house through out her life. Fear from parents, in-laws, husband, and society suppresses her character and gives a subordinating sense to her thinking level. This is not the story of rural India even urban Indian ladies are also living in such type partial atmosphere. If some tarnish man rape, assault and abduct any girl, irony to society is the victim girl is held responsible and subjected to odium of the family and society. On seeing the excessive dictator ship of rules made by man for his own expediency my heart is hauling with questions (1)Who will put an end to this ever ending discrimination with women folk? (2)When will women opinion matters and honoured in a family? (3)When will a girl's birth also cherished in a family and celebrated with sweets? (4)When will a divorcee not considered as rejected lot of a society? (5)When will our society realizes that it is culprit but not victim who is wrong? (6)When will we impede considering daughters as property of her in-laws in our home? In conclusion I would like to emphasis that if God has not kept any difference in male and female with respect to number of eyes, nose, brain, heart and lungs then how could male dominating society treats her as a subordinate? |
