Jammu, Dec 28 : Demanding restoration of reservation in promotion, the J&K State, the Jammu Kashmir Reserve Categories Employees Association (JKRCEA) has been organizing series of conventions to organize the masses. According to press release, in order to highlight the demand of restoration of reservation in promotion for reserved categories employees in J&K State, JKRCEA frontier association of employees Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward classes (OBC), Residents of Backward Areas (RBA) and Actual Line of Control (ALC) categories have organised a series of conventions on "Save Reservation in Promotion" at Hiranagar, Billawar and Doda. At Hiranagar, MLA Kuldeep Raj was the chief guest whereas at Billawar, MLA Bani, Jeewan Lal was chief guest of the programme organised the local unit of JKRCEA. While addressing the convention, Dr. Sanjay Bhasin, Chief of JKRCEA said that the SCs/STs/OBCs/RBAs and ALCs which constitute more than 60% population of the state are not adequately represented thus should be given justice. Pertinently, the J&K High Court, in its judgment on October 9, 2015, struck down some sections of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act. The court struck down Section 6 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, and Rules 9, 10 and 34 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules 2005. The reserved categories challenged this verdict in the Apex Court and got the status quo over the DB judgement. |
