Cultural Academy takes media for ride | | | Early Times Reprot
Jammu, Dec 28: The state Cultural Academy already severely gripped by the controversies over many issues still has not come up with any official statement on its charges. Now it has been further accused for rigging the entire theatre competition in which the Academy is alleged to have adjusted a blue eyed female participant namely Barkha Thakur from Pouni , district Reasi for awarding her the second best actress in the competition. Barkha who belongs to Pouni has in July this year participated in the Reasi district drama competition and bagged best female actor award for the play Jailey De Qaidi produced by Sangam theatre Group Reasi and was roped in by Society for Environment, Education and Modern Arts to participate in Jammu district competition. Akram Khan of Sangam Theatre Group confirmed her as same Barkha who had received best actor female in his play in Reasi. While the Academy Secretary Aziz Hajini said that he would check into the records for the manipulation, additional Secretary Arvinder Amn in a media response had said that no same artist from different districts could participate in same competition of two districts in the same year. The Academy in its press release on awards list had allegedly wrongly spelt Barkha Thakur as Barkita Thakur to conceal her name. On Judge's claim to seek Academy's answer on results tampering, Aziz Hajini , the secretary of the Academy a day earlier while talking to section of media had said that it was quite unfortunate that Padamshri Kemu had come up with such a statement that has demeaned the whole artistic fraternity of the state. "This is very unfortunate that he has given such statement charging the Academy, but if any of the employee of the Academy would be found indulged in any kind of malpractice, I would immediately call for his expulsion from the Academy," he said. Meanwhile in a new development, the state Academy has decided to come up with awards distribution function, notwithstanding the media charges against it to which it is silent yet. "We are proposing to distribute the awards of preceding years viz 2013-14 and 2014-15 which are still pending with the Academy. The awards function for the recently concluded competition would be held later on," cleared Sudhir Mahajan, senior drama instructor of the academy. |
