Patients subjected to unprofessional handling in Ganderbal Hospital | Locals allege medical negligence | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 28: Amid tall claims of providing ample facilities to people in government Hospitals, Hospital staff at Ganderbal has come under scanner as a boy was allegedly administered an injection by unauthorized staff which aggravated his medical condition. On December 26, family members of one Zahoor Ahmad Ahangar son of Ghulam Qadir Ahanagr of Dadarkot area brought him to District Hospital Ganderbal for treatment following complains of toothache. According to family members of Zahoor, "initially after reaching to Hospital that night staff members on duty refused to treat Zahoor and without even conducting any investigations, asked to take him to Bone and Joint Hospital Barzullah for treatment. They said that after they pleaded them to treat Zahoor who was in severe pain, an unauthorized person, whose identity could not be established administered and injection to him, following which his condition deteriorated. As the news about this incident spread in area, people of Ganderbal started protesting inside Hospital campus seeking to know the name of the persons who allegedly injected excessive medicine to Zahoor and strict action against him. Protesting people informed Early Times that concerned officials were well aware of the irregularity, but were trying to shield the culprit rather than taking action against him. Locals allege that District Hospital is run by few employees of the area and poor people are harassed and humiliated there. Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal, R.D Kasana admitted that boy was injected over dose of medicine but refused to divulge the name of the erring official. |
