‘Think beyond face lifting, Mr Singh' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 28: The Health Minister, it seems is unable to think beyond buildings and aprons. During his visit to the SMGS hospital Monday, he urged the doctors to work hard to maintain the position that the State has been conferred in an India Today conclave for healthcare. The state, it is in place to mention here, got the best healthcare service award this year. As was expected the Minister stressed need for face-lifting of the corridors, blood banks and theatres. There is no denying the fact that the corridors and the theatres must be clean but something else is needed to in the blood banks and corridors for effective healthcare. The health infrastructure in the Jammu Kashmir is the worst and this has been proved by the number of patients who prefer to visit PGI Chandigarh and AIIMS. The sorry state of affairs in the health sector can be gauged from the fact that noted doctors have also undergone minor surgeries in Chandigarh or AIIMS. Health Minister perhaps does not know that very costly machines are eating dust in Srinagar's SKIMS and SMHS hospital. There is nobody to run the machines. The Minister must be aware of shortage of doctors in the state hospitals. According to rough estimates more than 4000 vacancies of doctors are vacant. |
