Media Kings XI bags APL trophy | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 28 : Media Kings XI won the title trophy of the Aircel Premier League (APL) beating Aircel XI by eight runs in the decider played here. Earlier, Mir Imran led Media XI set a target of 75 runs for nine wickets in allotted 15 overs. Ilyas remained main scorer with 15 runs while Rajinder and Lekh Raj other batsmen, who could touch the double figure mark with 11 runs each. Mandeep (junior) emerged as most successful bowler from Aircel XI with four wickets. In reply, Aircel XI could not chase the total and completed their 15 overs quota for 66 runs losing nine wickets. Mandeep (Jr) made unbeaten 14 runs while Arun Sidha added 13. Ashish bagged three wickets from Media XI while Dinesh and Ilyas shared two wickets each. For his all round performance, Ilyas was named man of the match while most energetic player title went to Praveen Slathia. Mandeep Singh was adjudged best bowler of the APL. The finals culminated with a gala prize distribution ceremony with the winning teams and runners ups being rewarded for the efforts on the field and their sportsmanship by Rakesh Kumar Singh, Circle Sales Head, Aircel. Speaking on the occasion, Circle Business Head Aircel, Jammu and Kashmir, Prashant Ramesh Chaudhari said, "I am very happy to see that the Aircel Premiere League has grown into a seasonal tournament with the number of participating teams. We have strongly embedded in our ethos the principal of 'doing a little extra' and by engaging with our audiences who matter to a great extent towards the value of brand Aircel in Jammu and Kashmir. I congratulate each every participant of this tournament and the sportsmanship that they have all shown". Earlier, 16 teams played at the event held at University of Jammu. |
