15th State yoga championship Concludes | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 28 : 15th State yoga championship concluded here today at Tiny Tots Hr. Sec. School, Sainik Colony, Jammu in which more than 100 students from all parts of J&K participated. The championship was declared open by the president J&K Yoga Association and Vice President Yoga Federation of India, Deepak Handa. During the championship students from all age groups displayed different "Asanas" which were appreciated by the audience. The candidates were selected on the basis of their performance in the district yoga championship and the best of these would be selected for the National Yoga Championship to be held in January next year. Prof. Ashutosh spoke about the importance of the sport at both the state, national and the international level and welcomed the guests. Minister for Health and Medical Education Ch. Lal Singh was the chief guest for the occasion. Ch. Lal Singh in his speech praised the efforts of the students and the coaches of yoga. He stressed that yoga is foremost important in the growth of a human body at any stage of life. MLC Surinder Chowdhary was the guest of honour, who in his speech said that he was astonished to see the talent in the students of the state, he assured all possible help for upliftment of the Yoga. Other prominent dignitaries present included Veena Handa, Chairperson Handa College of Education, Deepali Handa Director Tiny Tots Group of Schools , Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Chairman of Affiliation Committee of Indian Olympic Association and General Secretary J and K Olympic Association, Member J&K Sports Council Jb. Ranjeet Kalra, Deepali Handa Director Tiny Tots Group of Schools and a galaxy of sports persons among many others.
