Samba, Dec 28: The Rathkhada mela was organised with great enthusiasm and religious fervour at Narsingh Dev Temple in Ghagwal area of Samba today. Thousands of devotees from Samba, Hiranagar and Kathua flocked Narsingh Dev temple during the day and offered special prayers. Ajay Dass, Mahant of Narsingh Dev temple said more than 10,000 devotees visited the temple during the mela. The Rathkhada melasignifies the end of winter days wherein days become longer and nights become shorter. People belonging to different communities participate in Rathkhada mela, he said.
There were scores of stalls of toys, crafts, confectionary items and eatables at the mela. The district administration had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mela such as uninterrupted power, safe drinking water, sanitation, medicare, police assistance and security at the mela site. |
