Udhampur schools lack infrastructure; authorities in slumber 12/28/2015 11:47:38 PM Early Times Report Udhampur, Dec 28: Amid tall claims of streamlining education across state particularly in government schools, the schools in Udhampur district have a different tale to tell as majority of schools lack basic infrastructure. The worst example of this absence of due infrastructure could be seen at the Govt Primary School Parli in village Dhanori just some odd kms from the main town of Udhampur. "The school doesn't have any boundary wall for its protection and anti social elements start sneaking in soon after the school functioning concludes, locals alleged. Some of the teachers of the school on anonymity told Early Times that this not only unfolds a sense of insecurity among teachers and students but also to the locals residing nearby who fear for their security also. Recalling the explosion which rocked the Udhampur town, a teacher said the spot was just close to the school and it could have proved fatal for students had some had ventured outside to that side in absence of boundary wall. They said that sometimes rowdy drivers pass through school premises causing students prone to accidents. Another teacher said they used to sit outside in the winters without any protection. "The school has total strength of 64 students but many parents don't dare to send their wards fearing their security. Headmistress of the school Aparana Sharama said that we have raised the matter in regard to Boundary wall with CEO-Udhampur however the response is yet awaited. CEO-Udhampur Bishan Singh said that we had representation from various schools in regard to various repairs and boundary wall construction issue and the same has been forwarded to office of Director Education Jammu.
