394th Tree talk session held | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 3: With renewed vigour in new year 2016, Tree Talk activists under the patronaze of O P Sharma Vidyarthi today held its 394th outdoor interactive session. According to press release, session was chaired by Principal Secretary Forests R K Gupta and presided over by Chairman J&K Pollution control board Abdul Razak. Director Fisheries Rakesh Dogra was the guest of honour. Principal secretary forest while interacting with participants requested civil society and school students to organize field nature walks ,Tree Twig identification contests ,Bird watching sessions and wildlife familiarization excursions to know neighbourhood biodiversity and innovate green practices and consumerism with least garbage and less pollution. Chairman Pollution control board appealed citizens to phase out use of harmful plastics and help in less garbage generation to save Suryaputri Tawi. Tree Talk crusader O P Vidyarthi highlighted that in various tree talk sessions, forest based local cuisines are being popularized to boost livelihood generation based on UN declared sustainable development goals. Director Fisheries Rakesh Dogra focused on river, pond and wetland pollution to save inland fisheries and livelihoods of fisherfolk.Bhaid devta near Kattal Bataal Nagrota is a sacred waterbody where Golden Mahseer is being conserved under community conservation efforts. Tree Talk session was attended by over 60 morning walkers and officers of various organizations. |
