| Self-styled 'big leader' sabotaged move to appoint first BJP chief from frontier region | | |

Jammu, Jan 3: Learning a lesson from the humiliating defeat in Bihar assembly polls, the BJP had almost finalized name of a person from frontier region for the post of state president but a self-styled "big leader" reportedly sabotaged this revolutionary move.
Credible sources said that BJP leadership was seriously thinking over three names for the post of new state BJP chief in JK.
Taking a lesson from Bihar elections in which weaker sections of the society had voted against the BJP, the party leaders had made up their mind to first appoint a person from a frontier region for the post of the state president as they wanted to remove the perception that BJP was against weaker section. Party leadership had zeroed in on the name of highly qualified leader, who is MLA of the border belt of Jammu province.
This MLA is highly qualified, articulated and committed to the agenda and philosophy of the party and his name was almost finalized. BJP leadership had argued that appointment of this MLA as party chief will send a very positive message among weaker sections which are now feeling cheated by the party.
Credible sources said that when this proposal was put before leaders of the sister organisations of the BJP, a self-styled "big leader" had strongly opposed this move. BJP leaders had argued that appointment of a leader from frontier region as BJP chief would help the party to strengthen its base among weaker sections. But the "big leader" was more particular to appoint any of his own men on this important position. To counter argument of appointing someone else as state BJP chief, this "big leader" said that it was not wise to appoint such person on important positions in the organisation.
Credible sources in the BJP said that this self-styled "big leader," who has intensified his intervention in the functioning of party after formation of the coalition government in JK, was very particular to appoint his loyalists on important positions through his deceitful tactics.
After getting himself "suitable adjusted" in government sector, now target of this "big leader" is to adjust his loyalists on important positions from whom he can get some benefits in the coming days. |
