| Sankalp Divas observed to mark 1000 years of Acharaya Abhinavgupta | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 3: Worldwide celebrations to observe 1000 years of India's greatest philosopher Acharaya Abhinavgupta commenced with Sankalp Divas at Sanjeevni Sharda Kendra(SSK), Anand Nagar, here on Sunday. Justice G D Sharma chief guest on the occasion while speaking on the occasion traced the essence of Hindu philosophy and said that it was perhaps the only humanistic philosophy in the world. He further added that in order to know about Kashmir Shaivism and the teachings of Acharya Abhinavgupta it was essential that Sanskrit learning is revived in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the same way as it was popularized by the erstwhile Dogra rulers. Noted scholar and former director Centre of Asian studies, Kashmir University, Prof K N Pandita said Abhinavgupta was perhaps the greatest representative of Hindu talent and scholarship. Lauding the efforts of celebrating the 1000 years of the great philosopher he said that his teachings and books need to be understood in their correct perspective which was only possible when we learn the Sanskrit language.
Swami Kumar ji delineated the essence of Abhinavgupta linking him to the immortal wisdom of Gita. He added that it was matter of immense joy to be a part of the millennium celebration of one of the most celebrated minds of the world.
On the occasion Shiv Prassad Raina was announced the president of Acharya Abhinavgupta celebration committee Jammu and Kashmir, Pradeep Kaul as secretary and Maharaj krishen Bhat as treasurer. |
