JKRCEA holds massive rally, seeks restore reservation

Kathua, Jan 3 : Around thousands of All Jammu and Kashmir Reserve Category Employees' Association, (JKRCEA) staged massive protest demonstration against the unrelenting silence of the Government over the J&K High Court's verdict on reservation in promotions.
The huge rally was organized in collaboration of All J&K Ravi Dass Sabha, All JK Mahasha Sabha and All JK Bhagat Sabha under the leadership of Dr Sanjay Bhasin, President of JKRCEA and Peera Dutt President Guru Ravi Dass Sabha.
Thousands on board supporters thronged in the rally and expressed resentment against State government for failing to protect their rights. A large number of women, children, older and youths reached at Shaheedi Chowk Kathua with placards displaying slogans like 'Save Reservation- Save humanity', Restore Reservation or face consequences', 'Arkshan Hatey Ga- Desh Bateye Ga'.
They were sloganeering against State government. The rally commenced from Shaheedi Chowk and culminated at Sr. Bhagat Singh Park.
While interacting to media, Dr Sanjay Bhasin President JK RCEA sought restoration of reservation in DPC and said its constitutional right of 7 percent population belonging to low/weaker section of the society.
He said JK Assembly passed reservation bill in 2004 under Art 370, 35 A and on the basis of local law but impediments to implement.
Dr Bhasin alleged on privileged classes to play politics with weaker section and surpassed their rights that would not be tolerated in future.
He alleged to divide society on the basis of caste and deepen the gap between two major sections of the society. He demanded revival of reservation in DPC.
Peera Dutta president of Guru Ravi Dass Sabha said that government must introduce reservation bill in JK assembly and pass unanimously. He said 7 % population that flourished reservation in government services including in DPC must be revival and people's right must not be snatched. He said discrimination would threat to tranquility of the state and fraternity.
Protestors also accused successive regimes in the State and Centre of repeatedly conspiring to attack the only tool of attaining equality in the otherwise inegalitarian and brahminical social structure. They called upon the suppressed and downtrodden to awake and unite to fight for their fundamental human rights which were there even before the constitutional framers recognized and codified.
Som Raj Majotra BSP, Rattan Chand (retd. SSP) and many others spoke on the occasion.
